Finding a Tardigrade

Location One - Moss

Tardigrades can be found living on moss.  Moss is small green plant that does not have any roots and gorws in flat, wet habitats.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Location Two - Lichens

 

Tardigrades can be found living on lichens.  Lichens are leaflike, slow growing plants that grow on rocks, walls and trees.

 

 

 

Location Three - Sand Dunes

​

Tardigrades can be found living on sand dunes.  Sand dunes are hills of sand that are affected by beach tides. They are formed by wind blown sand over many years.

 

 

Tardigrades can also be found in these other places - mountaintops, deep sea, tropical rain forests, Antartica, and soil.
